Garden Touring Across America

DH and I are starting out on a cross-country RV trip next month and would like to visit as many wonderful gardens as we can find. Can anyone recommend gardens to visit in Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia (Monticello is already on the list), Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and Utah.

Thanks for your tips!

I suggest you go to the web site of the American Assoc. of Botanical Gardens & Arboreta at: www.aabga.org

They should have a listing of botanical gardens by state. You may then contact those gardens you are interested in by going to their web pages. They can give you more garden touring ideas in their particular states and cities.

Thanks for the link! I've also been referred to another site that lists gardens by state (see link below) that has been enormously helpful. They even have virtual tours of gardens! So much to see!

Dawes Arboretum is good, in Newark Ohio. don't miss the Japanese Garden if you go there. In Columbus, Ohio Franklin Park Conservatory espceially good for tropical plants. In Westerville, Ohio Inniswood Gardens is great, it has a special children's garden.

The Indianapolis Museum of Art has a beautiful garden. And don't miss White River Gardens also in Indianapolis.

and the A.A.R.S. Rose Garden - http://www.waynet.org/nonprofit/rosegarden.htm

But then you didn't mention Indiana.

If you make a wrong turn and happen to pass through KY, don't miss some great sights/sites in Louisville. In case you didn't read the missive I sent on a previous post in this forum, I've attached it below.
