The water garden that Jane Powers is looking for is probably Vasanzibio in an area South West of Padua named Colli Euganei. I think that it may only be open on Sundays, but the surrounding countryside is glorius and you see the most magnificent entrance to the garden alongside the road. Has a maze as well as numerous water features, some of them of the "surprise" variety. Don't forget to visit the small village of Arqua Petrarca (wonderful Pizzas in the open air near the Church)

Stay at the Hotel President in Abano Terme and take Fango (Volcanic mud) treatment. Wonderful area, wonderful people.
