Best route from Denver to San Jose

| I'm driving with my daughter from Denver to San Jose in late October. AAA recommends we take the northern route through Salt Lake City. She has done the southern route through Las Vegas. Have any of you taken either route and have a recommendation? Wish I could say we are going to stop at wonderful garden destinations but not this time. We'll have two cats with us and she is anxious to get home. Thanks, Ginny |

| The northern route is much more beautiful and you may see some fall colors, the southern route is a lot of desert blahness. Distance wise they are about the same. HTH |
