| My partner, Jeff, bought me a heliconia from Puerto Rico. It arrived on January 21. It was the root ball and 5 inch stem. I potted it in a pot with a mixture of potting soil, perlite and peat moss. It is in the house under a grow lamp for 10 hours per day. Can anyone tell me what it should start looking like? I looks like the stem is getting brown on one side and kind of crispy on top. Is this natural? Maybe this stem dies and something will grow out of the middle? |

Even let it be on the dry side I am a Canadian but have a home for winters in Florida I looked atyour note as this past weekend I was out for a Sunday drive and found a patch of Heloconia growing wild in a vacant lot Had my trusty shovel along with me and dug some up THey look like ginger roots, the ones I have. And very strong and hardy Lucky you. |
