S. minor seedling

I have just returned from the Bahamas and brought with me a Sabal minor seedling.(Our secret!)My S. minors grown from seed have been doing successfully outdoors for a few years now but I have never brought one from the tropics before.

I have potted it up and plan to take it outdoors this spring but I'm not sure if I should dig it into the garden and leave it for the winter or not. Any thoughts?

One further complication...it is possible that this seedling is a Palmetto as there were some in the area and I cannot tell the difference in such a small seedling(8 inches).

I would appreciate any suggestions anyone might have.

Cheers from the Island
