Tall tropical looking screen besdies bamboo

Hello,

My dream is to be able to walk out of my back door into the back yard and enter a jungle.

The problem is when I walk out my back door now I can see 2 story condo complexes. I would like to plant some dense tall tropical looking screen(s)

There is nothing wrong with bamboo but I alrwady have some and I would like more variety than just bamboo.

I would like it to be 15' tall or taller if possible. A mixed screen might be interesting so I am anxious to hear suggestions.

WOuld oleander work ok as a screen?

If you don't need a year-round screen, cannas might do the trick. The big-leafed taller kinds like 'Musifolia' look especially lush and tropical. With enough water and fertilizer, 'Musifolia' can grow to about 10 feet (I've heard even taller, but that's as big as it's gotten for me).

Another great temporary screen is Ricinus communis (castor bean), the larger selections of which can easily grow to 15 feet in a single growing season.

Thanks for the suggestions so far and the link

I like the castor bean plants but I was afraid of planting them because they are posinous and I have 2 kids and 3 dogs.

I never knew cannas got that tall. I have some canna bulbs I purchased at home depot but I don't think they are supposed to get anywhere near 10' tall

It is extremely easy to remove the flowers/seed capsules from castor bean plants no matter how tall they are. I regularly grow them to 20-25' tall and can gently bring them down to my level so I can keep the seed capsules picked off. I then gently push it back up to it's full height. Your main worry is when they begin to turn brown and then "POP" right out of their casings up to 10' away!

I am using rice paper plant, bananas, brugmansia, and alocasia to block the ugly house next door. By June, I can only see the roof.
