| Yes, I couldn't believe it either. What was even more surpsising was that the palms can survive the winter!...and they are 8 feet high! Anyone interested in buying palm trees in NJ should check these guys out at southjerseypalms.com
Last summer I bought several cold-hardy and two non cold-hardy palms from a guy named Joe whose ad for palm trees I saw in the Asbury Park Press. Well I'm glad to say the cold hardy palms have survived and are doing very well. I'll give the guy a call again soon for another couple of annuel palms to put near my pool.

| Sorry, but I don't think that most of those palms will overwinter well in most areas of NJ in most years--Rhapidophyllum, Sabal, and Trachycarpus species are about all that have a realistic chance of survival in most average NJ winters without protection (lights, covers, etc). Chinese fan palm (Livistona chinensis) might make it as a die-back perennial with some mulch. |

| Virtually none of the palms featured on that website are likely to survive even a mild south Jersey winter without severe damage or outright death. arecales is right in noting that a Chinese fan palm might behave as a die-back perennial, but not as an 8-foot-tall tree. "Cold-tolerant" on that website might be taken as suggesting that the palms in question wouldn't be harmed by temps down to about 40 degrees, but "winter-hardy" would be a whole different matter. |

| There are definitely cold hardy palms that have no problem surviving NJ winters with a little care. Contact ELMAN23@aol.com and I would be more than happy to explain how you can bring the tropics to NJ. |
