I too have all my tropicals and plants in pots. I use Milorganite. I usually dump a bunch on the top part of the pot and mix it in wellwith about 2-3 inches of the soil there. I water it in.. its incredible.

I have thought of using Milorganite myself. My UNEDUCATED GUESS. Would be about 2-3 cups scratched into the topsoil of the potted plants.

Milorganite is one of the best natural fertilizers on the market and works well not only for tropicalesque plants, but lawns and even the vegetable garden. My palm trees love it and my bananas go bananas over it. Milorganite releases nitrogen slowly, has lots of trace elements and has is organic matter that the plants use too. It is also high in iron which really greens up the plants.

I found that flowering/fruiting was compensated last year when I overdid it with Milorganite. I will apply it more judiciously this year.
