I just bought a plant named panama rose (rondeletia leucophylla). Is anyone familar with this plant? Also does anyone know if I could keep it through the winter in zone 7? Any help would be great.

Hmm. I have a Panama rose (Rondeletia splendens). I have it on a table in my sunroom. I believe there should be no problem overwintering it indoors, although I have only had mine for a few months now. Vivilet, does your panama rose have a fragrance? I've heard they have a great fragrance at night, but the only 2 blooms that were on it gave off the faint smell of scotch tape :S Now the blooms are gone, and I'm wondering if it's going to flower at all again.

I also bought a Panama Rose in early June, intrigued because I had not seen one before. It was covered with flowers and 3 butterflies lighted on it while I was thinking over the purchase--of course, that sold me on it right away. In the past few weeks, I noticed that the blooming waned badly, so I too worried. But a little research put my mind at ease. It is apparently a winter bloomer (Dec - Apr) according to the web page (link shown below) that I found.

Mine is in the ground (zone 9) and the nursery told me it could get up to 8 feet tall when planted in the garden.

Here is a link that might be useful: killerplants.com
