amorphophallus konjac overwintered outside in zone 5a

I couldn't believe my eyes. Near my cement porch (microclimate I guess?) up pops 7 babies that were overlooked when I dug these last fall. I'm zone 5a!

I hear the bigger ones tend to rot when left out due to containing more water so I'm not recommending anybody try this in case you lose them- but what a shocker!

They blew threw the hens/ chicks and even came up under loose ceramic 4 inch tiles.- that I had in place there. In fact they leafed out sooner than the babies I'd brought in and placed out this spring.

I've yet to see a canna or EE survive the winter here.
