Tropical poolside island ideas??

Hi,

I'm fairly new to gardening and have been really struggling with ideas for our poolside island area. I'd like plant/flowers to match the existing tropical theme of our backyard. I'm looking for plants/flowers that might fit the following:

Various shades of green or green/blue(grasses/groundcover)
Bright, tropical flowering plants (hot pink, purple, orange)
Low in height.

Thanks!
Jesse

p.s. I don't know how to post photos on forum but can email pictures of island, if requested.

for groundcovers, consider the ornamental sweet potatoes: Ipomoea batatas x. 'Margarita' or x. 'Blackie' or x. 'Ace of Spades'

Why flowering? Try the hot foliage colors of crotons, or of 'Red Sister' Ti plants, or some of the way kewl newer caladiums that take the sun...

There are multiple blue Fescue grasses that are low clump formers, evergreen and very blue but I don't know if they will live in your zone or not.
