Tibouchin

I managed to over-winter my tibouchin indoors and planted it in a huge pot this year. It's now enormous and beautiful but too big for indoors this coming winter! When do I prune it, and how much, without losing next year's flowers? I live in a cold climate in the south of England where it can hit -10C sometimes.

RE: Tibouchin

I've never pruned my tibouchina, but i don't think you would lose any flowers next year despite hard pruning because they bloom on new growth. I've had a tibouchina come back from the roots after a freeze two years ago, and it flowered off of new growth. I would trim it down just enough to get it indoors, but would make sure it is still aesthetically attractive. Hope this helps.
