Advice on tropical landscaping around new gazebo

Hi everyone,

I posted this in the landscape design forum and

it was suggested I post here also.

I am in the process of building a small (11 x 11)

gazebo for my side yard. I had a concrete walkway

put in that measures 3 feet wide by 19 feet long.

In the center of the walkway is a circle that is

about 9 ft in diameter, where I plan to put a

cast concrete fountain.

So, the effect is 5 ft of walkway, 9ft circle where

the fountain goes (large enough to walk around the

fountain) another 5 ft of walkway, then gazebo.

Here is a rough sketch:

I have been collecting some palm and bananas that I

want to use to landscape my "tropical escape"

gazebo and am hoping some folks here can give some

advice about what to plant along the walkway, around

the fountain area, and around the gazebo.

I have several queen palms, a king palm, a chinese

fan palm (all quite large) as well as several smaller

chinese windmill, and assorted smaller palms. A few

small but getting bigger by the day banana plants

round out the collection.

Any suggestions on what would make a good planting

that is tropical looking, hopefully hardy to zone 5

(the palms will go in the greenhouse in the winter),

and round out the walkway/fountain areas?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Tom

P.S. the squiggly-ish line at the bottom of the drawing

is the driveway
