| Hi i live on the MS gulf coast zone 8/9? We are completely starting from scratch! My desire is to create a tropical getaway in my backyard! We have an 1 1/2 acre pond, My husband is building decks now! We are a little concerned about snakes? I would appreciate any ideas and suggestions of plantings I can use and how to info! Right now it is a blank canvas but will have decks across the back with a small brick patio area and some centipede grass. I have not worked with tropicals But I Love them! Any info on what, how, where, and where to obtain plants without spending a fortune! I don't have anything for trade now but if I can get going maybe that will change too!
THANKS :-) http://www.freewebs.com/thankyoujesus/ |

| I would definately start by planting your (palm) trees first, as those will take years to grow. Get some books on the subject; I found the best one to be "The Subtropical Garden", by Jacqueline Walker. |
