September update

I posted some photos of my garden as it appeared earlier this summer in the "How Does Your Tropicalesque Garden Grow?" thread. Here are some more recent photos; most of the hardy perennials are finished blooming but the elephant ears and Tetrapanax really come into their own this time of year. Here's the view from the back door:

From a slightly different angle, giving a better view of the elephant ears (Xanthosoma species, grown from Latin grocery store "malanga"):

And a view of the entire garden from overhead, looking up the long and narrow yard towards our garage at the top of the hill (it was very windy on Saturday so the Musa basjoo got pretty shredded):

Here's an overhead view of the lower garden:

And finally an overhead closeup of the elephant ears:

Here's a closeup of Zantedeschia 'White Giant'--it really is a giant compared to the other Zantedeschias I've seen, a great foliage plant and hardy through 3 winters so far but it hasn't bloomed very well for me:

I finally got one flower on my Zantedeschia 'White Giant' this year, the third year. But I keep moving mine around every spring, so it has to re-establish. I love the foliage and it winters over well for me too.

Your gardens are awesome. Mine look pretty good, but I have too many weeds to post pictures!
