Crisp brown edges and streaks on EE.??

I have several EE's in huge pots, in full sun, and they get throughly watered twice a day. (We're in a drought here in Vt.) I am seeing the leaves develop dark brown edges and they are forming streaks that go from the outer edge in towards the spine of the leaf. The leaves aren't old, or new. Can EE's catch something from another plant? I've had a hell of a time with my dahlias this summer. They all are dying of some sort of fungus disease that seems resistent to any and all fungicides I use on them. So I wonder about my EE's. Thing is, the EE's brown streaks don't resemble the diseased leaves of my dahlias. I haven't treated them with anything yet. Any suggestions from more experienced EE lovers?
