I think if you are looking for an established tree you are almost certainly not going to find one online through mail order - the cost of shipping would cost an arm or a leg. And even if money is not a problem for you, online nurseries are usually marketed toward northern growers so they sell tropical and sub-tropicals at a much higher price because the availability of those plants is limited and many times those nurseries only carry seeds because plants are too difficult to ship. You are going to have to visit some local nurseries. SoCal is full of specialty nurseries and vareigated bauhinia tree is a common plant they carry (Even Home Depot carries bauhinias). Good Luck! you already got past the most difficult part - the HOA!

I have two Bauhinia Orchid tree's which I bought at a nursery, however I'm in SW FL.mine are growing quite fast and loaded with flowers, they are showey and very fragrant, and attract bee's which is a good thing as bee's are dissapearing. Here's pics. of mine:
