best time to buy Bougainvilleas

My "Barbra Kurst" just died on me after 6 years. I always had it in a pot here in Mid-Atlantic state. Because of their finicky reputation, does one buy one in bloom or what...I would want it to bloom mainly in the summer, but my previous one did bloom for me in the winter indoors too at times.

I would want to buy it while blooming, so there's no question about flower color. About being finicky, you are so right. The one I put in the ground last spring quit blooming immediately but grew all summer, came back this year and grew even more crazy but no sign of another bloom yet... starting to wonder if it would prefer being potted.
