I don not think that you will have much luck looking for Kola nut trees in central Asian. I lived in Sierra Leone, West Africa for several years. Kola nuts were plentiful. The weather is typical of monsoon climates - hot and dry from October through April, then warm and wet from May through September.

As to plantations....many people grew kola nut trees, but it often done on a rather small scale. I saw oil palms, coffee trees, and cacao trees being grown in plantations, but never kola nut trees. Most farmers would happen to have a few orange trees, mango trees, avocado trees or kola nut trees, but these did not bring in a lot of cash the way those other crops did.
