Clianthus puniceus, kaka-beak

Hi,

Anyone out there growing this great plant?

As near as I can tell it should be hardy in zone 8b or warmer and seems to have no special cultivation problems. If not too cold it will make a floppy shrub or sort-or-vine. It sure is pretty in flower (red or white).

I'm looking for some seeds and can trade a few things; send me an email if you've got some seeds to spare.

Cordially,

Hi Joe, If you would like a plant World Plant Research has them. I've also seen seeds but lost it for now. I'll look it up later. Cat

I grew one from seed a year or two ago. Seemed fairly easy. It's been in a pot and hasn't flowered yet. It's compatriots must have died, unless only one seed germinated! I keep it in a greenhouse, no frost-pro, in the winter and it's tolerated that. It will have to be planted in the garden this summer, though, as I don't think it's going to make much further progress until it gets it's roots into some premium grade earth.
