HAVE: Heliconia Caribaea 'Burgundy'

Have several rhizomes of this very large growing heliconia. This is a fast grower, gets very large, needs space. Not suitable for container growing, this needs to go to Central/South Florida or Puerto Rico. Original plant was obtained as a single rhizome start at the Fairchild Gardens Ramble in Miami in 2002. Bloomed for the first time in late 2004. I don't have a photo of the bloom but it looks like the typical overlapping fan shaped inflo or Caribaeas in general and is a red color with a distinct purplish cast. The rhizomes are large and heavy, in excess of a pound each, some close to 2 lbs each, fresh dug this morning. Shelf life is about 2-3 weeks. If you want some, email with trade! Check my trade page to see what I already have. My "want" list is more like a "pipe dream" list so don't be afraid to make an offer.
