Bird of Paradise not happy.

Hi! Need your help if you can please.

I've had this guy for about 3 years and although it hasn't flowered yet, it has been very healthy up until this Winter. It has been in the same location since I got it as a baby shipped from California (about 5 leaves) so I don't think its a light problem. When I noticed around 5-6 weeks ago that it was curling and drooping, I looked closer and noticed it was sitting in drainage water. I emptied it and thought that was the problem but it is just getting worse. I'm afraid to water it because the soil still feels moist, but the soil also feels cool.

Here's a link to a photo:

Any suggestions? Thanks - Kristine

Definitely do not let any BOP sit in water, especially during the winter when its not growing as much. This plant should make it as long as the roots are not rotten. The only thing you can do now is wait and dont over water. Only water when the soil is dry to about an inch deep.
