Obviously, I am in a very different climate, here in Costa Rica but I am a Brit!
For a real impact try the C.esculenta 'Black Magic' or 'Black runner'.
The leaves on these can get really large and the colouring makes a great statement.
I grow many different species but these are my favourite.
