Plantogram Hass tree

I just received my Hass avocado tree here in San Antonio, TX today, I ordered Hass on there site and it said just Hass but when I checked the tag on the tree it said Florida Hass instead of the Hass I ordered. As long as this tree has fruit that taste as good as regular Hass I could care less what type it is. I wanted to know if there is anything that I need to know about planting this tree and about white washing the trunk to keep it from sunburn. Should I do it right now or wait until Spring? It is also flowering as well. They also sent me a surinam cherry tree.

Jeez. That tree is very close to your house. Good luck.

it's still in a pot next to the house I have yet to plant it. Some of the leaves are folding inward, does this mean it has a deficiency in nutrients?

Where are you in Texas? If you are in a humid part of the state, like Houston area, the FL Hass might actually work out better for you. It is a nice looking tree - very large for mail order :)

Ok I just reread and saw you are in San Antonio lol. I don't know if it is humid there. The FL Hass is supposed to do better with the humidity than the original one. The original one is supposed to have a higher fat content and taste more creamy but the FL is supposed to be comparable in taste. I haven't tried a FL Hass so couldn't say for sure but we used to grow the original one when we lived on the west coast and it is DH's favorite.

I just bought me another Hass Avocado tree at the Wal-Mart on Dezavala, It had so many flowers and for $39.99 I just said "screw it I'm buying another one". So now I have a California Hass and a Florida Hass tree.

Oh good now you can compare the tastes and growth habits and let us know. I am tempted to go ahead and try the regular Hass here in FL even though its not supposed to grow as well here. It is hard to get used to the large green types of avocados that are typically grown here. I am so used to the ones that turn purplish or black. I think they taste better.

Can anyone tell me if this an Avocado growing? I found it on the Florida Hass
tree. There are about four more I have found.
