Philodendron Selloum in full sun?

Just wondering if anyone has planted Philodendron Selloum in full sun? How does it do? I was thinking about planting it in a location where it gets mostly full sun during the day.

Also thought about the Black Magic Elephant Ears (?) or something like it to add a tropical look to my garden. I need a full sun contender. Any suggestions?

Have a Selloum planted on the N. side of the house since 82. lol Has handled everything Ma Nature has dished out over the years with almost no care. One drawback. It is a clumper and requires serious pruning every now and then.
As to "black Magic" it does best in full sun but must have either standing water or very moist soil. It will grow in shade but leaves are not nearly as dark.
If you have reliable water great, if not there are many ,many other species of Alocasia that prefer drier locations. One word of warning some get downright gigantic
and some are downright invasive lol.

Gary the plant I choose would get regular irrigation but with no standing water. So I guess the Black Magic Elephant Ears are out. I wasn't sure Selloum could take full hot florida sun. I have a couple Selloums in a part shade location doing very well. And they add a nice tropical look. Just thought the leaves would get fried in the sun but maybe I'll give it a shot.

I have the Black Magic here in KY. I have mine in part shade and part sun. It does fine.

I too have a Black Magic (pot grown) but let soil dry..in winter, it sits before west windows, and some south. Wouldnt' it rot if kept soggy? I never thought of the BM as a bog plant...??? Toni

I have two selloums and one is in full sun, the other partial shade. I do nothing to these plants but trim leaves from the bottom. The full sun plant is bigger than the shade one. 8'x8' and 4'x4' Mother Nature is the one that waters them. I just look and admire. Today was a special treat, the large one has 13 flower pods opening and the smaller one has 6. These plants are only six years old. What a Mother's Day present!

Yes. Selloum can tolerate full sun. I got 2 and its thriving well. :)
