Ae Ae Fruit Getting Ripe

Posted by cagary zone 10 CA (My Page) on

Its been in the 80's for the last 10 days or so here in southern CA and the fruit stalk on my Ae Ae has fattened up enough to cut some of the upper hands.

Hopefully, they will ripen in a week or so. and I'll finally see what they taste like.

Nice! Aren't they pretty? When they get ripe, they are almost all yellow- you can't see the variegation any more.

Don't get your taste bud hopes up too high- I was not impressed by the flavor. I thought they were more "sweet plantain" tasting (drier/fibery). Not bad, just not to my liking.

But I would like to hear about your opinion....

Those bananas are beautiful! I hope the taste will be great; if not, the plant and fruit are beautiful on their own. This sure is an elusive banana!

Sooo not fair lol. They are real purty. I've tried them and they were sweet but they were really ripe when I tried them. Let us know what you think.
