Hi,
My sister has a Tibouchina heteromalla. I believe she wants it pruned back, but I'm not sure about the timing.
I don't have a picture of the plant, but Annie's and Kartuz have nice pictures and descriptions. It's the "other" Tibouchina, with smaller flowers than Tibouchinas that are more widely grown, and which appear in long terminal racemes.

My question is: is this a plant that many people grow? Is it one that people would be interested in growing? What it boils down to is whether I should prune the plant for my sister and root some of the cuttings. In theory I could send out unrooted cuttings, but I generally find it works better just to root them myself.
If I did this I would most likely trade for postage unless someone really had something that interested me. At this point I'm really trying to gauge interest.
While I have people's attention, I would mention that I have a Cobea scandens in a 4 inch pot that desperately needs a bigger pot or to go in the ground. I can also include a number of other things, including the double white tree Dahlia. See the exchange section of the vines forum.

I'll try to make up for promoting that with a picture of a little guy I saw today at Half Moon Bay Nursery.
I'll post more on that in the Hummingbird Forum, assuming I can keep myself awake a few minutes.
I'm not sure what's up with the fuzz on the beak, whether it's fungal of just the result of a sticky beak. I'll ask on the Hummingbird forum.
Here is a link that might be useful: Tibouchina heteromalla at Annie's Annuals (repeat of above link)
