What is the name of this typical indoor plant and what can I plant with it?

Are the leaves thick and stiff? If so, I'd say Peperomia. This plant looks like it's going to 'use' all of the upper space above the pot surface, so I'd plant something dangling with it that will abide the same light conditions, like one of the various Tradescantias, Callisia repens, Gibasis geniculata.

RE: ID of indoor plant

Hi Toronto girl
I am a Canadian gal, from Barrie
Down here in Florida , winters
For the reasons, I wanted to grow plants such as you have there in the picture, easily I can tell you that one would grow just fine down here in the south
Main thing I could advise is not to water to much and give it as much sun as you possibly are able to do.
