Plant ID if possible please

Hi, I bought this plant in N.W. Tennessee this weekend but it did not have a tag, I am not even sure that it is tropical, but I would appreciate any help... The underside of the immature leaves are purple which fades as the leaf matures. The trunk is very woody. Thanks!!

This looks like a Polyscias species but I am not sure.

Thank you trini,I did a search on Polyscias and this does not seem to be in the Ginger family. These leaves are very round with just a slight bit of serration at the leaf edge.

Polyscias are not in the ginger family.
They are also referred to as Aralias.

oops! I stand corrected :) I must have read the website wrong. I posted this over on the "name that plant" forum also. I would have only posted it over there but I forgot it was there!

I think Trini's ID looks right.

BTW Trini, I was born in Woodbrook, grew up in Maraval. Now I'm shoveling 3" snow off meh deck!

Here is a link that might be useful: Immature purple leaves w/ serrations
