First one is a columbine (Aquilegia spp.), and the second looks like some composite, perhaps a Shasta daisy (Leucanthemum spp.).

I thought Columbine also, but this plant never gets taller or leggy like columbine. I lived in utah for 2 years (the land of wild Columbine) and it's not that. When a leaf emerges, it's a fist shape and unfurls after the stem is about 2 inches tall. It wilts with the smallest ray of sun. Thanks for the shasta idea though, I'll check it out. It may be struggling in the shade. I wish it was shasta!!

I also think its an Aquilegia but it could be a Thalictrum. They have similar leaves and are in the same family (Ranunculaceae)

I also think Aquilegia. The southern varieties are different from the ones in colder climates.
