Bringing seeds/plants to the Philippines

Hi, I would like to bring some seeds and rhizomes to my mother in law in the Philippines. Does anyone have any experience bringing in seeds or plants? Is there any paperwork required? Thank you

Not certain which way round you want to transport the plants, from the US or to the US...either way you really need to contact the countries own agency that you are bringing the plants INTO to make sure you are OK with what you are doing.

Best to contact the authorities direct or do an online search for the countries particular environmental agency...each country has its own regs and I'm only familiar with those of the UK...depends on what plants you want to bring into a country, and from where (at least with the UK), some allowed in freely, some need phytosanitary certifs, some banned outright...also whether they are plants, seeds, bare root, dormant, in leaf etc etc etc. Lots of variables, lots of rules and regs and big fines for non compliance. Good luck.

With seeds there should be no problems bringing them in the Philippines. I order a lot from online seed suppliers in the US and ask my friends from there to bring them here when they come. Quantity of course is another issue. With rhizomes, i am not really sure!
