Hi Gaza, I wonder what your coldest temperature in the winter in your area is, that you are able to grow all those species succesfully?
my area can drop to -2C for few hours (only for few times) in the winter, and the day temperature is around 8 - 15C. So, which heliconia would you recomend to survive that winter temperature?

The hardiest of all is H.scheidiana. Nothing is really close to being as hardy. They grow all over the bay area. Not even sure what temps would be fatal-mid 20s?

thanks stanofh, is there any other heliconia species apart from scheidiana that will survive? I've tried to search this species, I could not find one. I could only get Heliconia angusta, bihai, rostrata and subulata. Do you have any idea if any of these will survive near 0C?
