The best thing for most pest-infested plants is a summer vacation outdoors. Do a google search for coffee grounds as a treatment for cycad scale. It should work for any plant. The ants contribute because they farm the scale and mealy bugs for the honey residue they make. In severe cases pesticides may be needed.

Pruning is best when growth just begins in the spring. Cuttings can be rooted but they will not form the same type of caudex as seed grown Adenium.

Coffee ground so simple, why didn't I thought of it. I have used it in the past on a palm and it worked. I guess adenium looks like porcelain so I am more careful around it.

when you say coffee grounds are you using used grounds or fresh grounds..I've never had this problem on my DR's but on other house plants..what I did was put alcohol in a spray bottle and spray well and put outside.

I have used the grounds after doing my coffee :-) After writting the above, I did put some at the base of my adeniums, so far they are doing well.
