bougainvillea cutting

I have a cutting off of a bougainvillea.....can I place it in water and it will grow roots....I don't have any of the root growing stuff that I can dip it in....I was just wondering if there was another way....Thanks!

For me, I just take the cutting and poke it into the soil, always work for me.

Bougainvilleas will root, but you need to get a large cutting, probably one with that has some bark on the end. They take abut 2-3 weeks in water for roots to appear. Also adding root hormone to the tip will speed things up.
