Grafted Pseudobombax ellipticum

I have a pink Pseudobombax ellipticum grafted onto a white Pseudobombax rootstock. It's growing well but I noticed a couple small branches growing from below the graft. I know that with grafted trees any growth from the rootstock should be removed but I also like the white variety and wanted to know if I could allow the white branches to grow or will that cause a problem with the grafted portion? It's a well healed graft, about 3 or 4 years old.

as long as you have new growth on the grafted portion and its not in decline then it should be fine as long as you monitor it and prune the rootstocks branches according to its vigor.

Thanks. So far the growth from the grafted section is much more vigorous then what's coming off of the rootstock.
