Seed pod ID please

Any ideas what these are please? The first two I picked up on an Australian holiday, think the left hand one is some kind of Eucalyptus as it resembles the much smaller ones that grow on our own E Gunnii. Seem to recall they were from Yulara, the Ayers Rock resort.

This one was found in Fuengirola, Spain. The pod is VERY hard. The 2nd shot shows the 'string' of tiny seeds attached to the centre of the inside, although on thinking about it, they could well be the remnants from bigger seeds that have already fallen out.

The seed pod from Spain is from a Jacaranda Tree, which I believe is native to Brazil. I picked some of these pods from the trees on a recent trip to Florida, where Jacarandas are quite common as an ornamental, prized for their beautiful purple flowers. The seeds look like they have fallen out already from your pod, they are not in that "string" in the center. Hope this is of some help.

Christopher, thanks for the info re the Spanish pod. The particular trees they were under did'nt have any flowers on at the time, not that I saw anyway as it was mid November. Having now 'Googled' Jacaranda I remember seeing some with sparse flowers in different places which were planted along the streets like the others. As I mentioned, I too thought the 'stringy' bit was the remnants of the seeds umbilical cord!
