Since this colocasia is only marginally hardy in your zone, I don't think you have to worry too much about it's invasiveness nor do I think it will do any foundation damage to your basement wall. If it gets too out of hand, inject the corm with Roundup. That usually does the trick.

Would love your advice. I am in Jacksonville and just acquired Colocasia Mojito and Black Magic. I would like to sink them in pots like you do. Do you have any problems with them "escaping" through the drainage holes in the pots? Do you double-(or triple?)-pot them when burying?

Actually I'm now down to growing these in a "marsh" garden.A 5 x 8 foot lined bed that holds about 10 inches of water. They are planted in dish pans along with several types of "swamp iris. They do climb over the edge but can't live in the dry sand . I wouldn't worry too much about being "invasive" as they are very water demanding and they hate the cold lol.
Plant them in a shallow wide container . They won't spread into soil that doesn't hold a lot of water and are easily clipped. Beautiful plants aren't they?? gary

During the very dry and hot season here in Guanacaste, Costa Rica my C.'Black magic' survives and multiplies....thankfully!

Thanks for the info! I divided the plants and got them into the ground. Hopefully I will not have an invasive problem. I really do love them.
