I believe this is some kind of orchid, but not sure. It is in Washington state.

You've got us puzzled. This looks very much like a Phalaenopsis (Moth Orchid) but what is it doing outside in Washington State? They are from SE Asia and the Western Pacific.I don't think global warming has kicked in that much yet...Are you sure it's not a pot plant? It looks far too tall to be a native orchid also.

I suspect this is an artificial orchid stuck into a bed of Bergenia and Achillea. The lurid green buds at the top, the incorrect habit of growth (ie upside down) and the unlikely climate and are all highly sucspicious.
