Can anyone tell me why the pseudo bulbs of the cattleya skinneri sometimes get vertical splits in them. I have noticed this on several occasions on different plants. It doesn't seem to harm the plants but could be an entry point for rot. My plants are grown outside with no cover other tham overhanging branches in clay pots using a pinebark mix. The plants flower normally every year.
