Karyn, I am sure you will have to prune it, to keep it under 12ft, but it would be a good thing, since it would to encourage new growth. Do you have the red or yellow one?

Do they normally have to be this tall to bloom?? If so, I'm in trouble. I started some from seed and they are outside in large pots and have finally reached maybe 5 feet tall. No sign of blooms but otherwise beautiful healthy plants. I thought they could be pruned back to keep them more manageable. My hoophouse for winter storage is only 9 feet tall at the peak and my extra tall tree ferns take up most of the available space... what was I thinking!

I just hope they taste better fresh of the tree than the ones from the store. I started both red and orange but I don't know which color these will be until they fruit.

I have no idea what color the fruit of these are. I also don't know how large they need to be before reaching blooming size. All of mine are the same age but only one was transplanted into a large pot. That one took off while the other two were only about 4' tall. I transplanted them into bigger pots a couple weeks ago and they've already grown about a foot.
