can Sesbania be air layered?

Yes, I know this is a weed in Florida and the Gulf coast. Here in Maryland, I bought 3 from a nursery a few years ago and tried them in various sheltered spots. The others died off in the first cold winter, but the surviving one has made it, including this terrible winter. It has no potential to become invasive here, it barely manages to bloom by Sept. when returning from the roots. Priority now is on preserving the clone, I hope I can just air layer the current branches and forego blooming until I have a few backup plants. It is very showy as such subtropical legumes go, at least ones that are zn 7 hardy. I grew Caesalpinia gilliesii for many years, it's nice but I like the Sesbania better.
