They prefer shade although, like any green plant they still need good light. But I wouldn't keep a plastic bag on it for too long. They need good air circulation, that helps prevent fungus setting up on the leaves. I'd say it's still showing symptoms of the sudden direct sunlight and will take a bit of time to get over it.

Not sure what you mean by, "The steam is turning brown quickly", unless it's a typo for "stem". If the sun just burned the leaves then it will still probably get over it easily enough, in time. But if the stem was cooked then it may not recover. The stem would normally have stored reserves that would help in regeneration.

At this stage you can only wait and see. Keep it shaded and moist, but don't drown it. Keep the humidity up as much as possible but make sure it still has good air circulation. Good luck with it.

Thanks. Yes, I meant stem. The top part is quite green however,and the leaves haven't degraded much after my mistake.

It is in the shade of my toilet in my bathroom, and gets a daily misting with 2-3 days per week watering by de-clorindated water.

If you can get rain water then use that. I've got 2 plants. The oldest is very small and the younger one is up to my shoulders. The older one is in heavier shade, plus the soil dries very fast. It's a bit of a juggling act to get them just right.
