Pruning Jatropha integerrima

Hello all.
I am new to this forum/website and have been checking around different areas and think this website is very cool. I plan on become a regular and think my lifelong, so far 24 years, experience in Fl. can contribute to others. I have planted a jatropha integerrima in my mothers yard about a year and a half ago. When bought at the nursery it was very compact and pruned quite nicely into a rather round shape. I am not sure if it is the cultivar "compact or compacta". Like most jatropha integerrima it is multi-stemmed. It is basically a standard up about 6" from the ground and then starts to go wild. I was wondering what I could do pruning wise to get this shrub to be trained into a tree as well as possible. It is quite open and want it to be compact. I will put up a picture in a day or two to let everyone see it.
Thanks and good luck gardening. Jeff
