| Hi.
A neighbor gifted me with an allamanda plant and have been able to keep it really healthy for almost 8 weeks now. However, it has not been blooming at all. Set-up:
Care:
I have sparsely pruned off the "woody" (old, brown, non sprouting) side branches in some allamanda, and the tips on the other allamanda to see any difference in type/site of pruning but still nothing. How can I improve the blooming of my allamanda plants? Thanks http://postimage.org/image/by5r1uo1d/ |

| Sammy, in Zone 11 your Allamanda will do a lot better planted in the ground. It gets to be a very big bush. It is native to NE Brazil (Z13), where it flowers all year round. Here in Sao Paulo (Z11) it takes a winter rest with the lower temps but is spectacular for the rest of the year. |

| I agree with the previous poster. In your climate you should get flowering for long periods once the plant is big enough and established. Planting out would be ideal, somewhere it receives root protection/mulch, but can flower into the sun (over a fence , arch or pergola, or standardised against a wall). |
