Advice for preping to bring tropicals indoors

Posted by decogrl (My Page) on

I live in VA zone 7. I have a lot of tropicals given to me this year hibiscus, allamanda, clerodenron, palms, etc that I need to bring in. I want to avoid scale, and other pests. What do I need to do/treat them with prior to bringing them indoors? I had a bad scale problem one year with my night blooming jasmine and had to toss it.

Thanks

are you organic? If not, I have friends who dose their plants with Beyer's systemic, which lasts months. If you are, you could spray the plants with alcohol before you bring them in. Don't let it get on the dirt. Or you can use a insecticidal soap or something.
