giant purple leaf crinum

hello,

I have one of those gigantic purple leaf crinums that can no longer come inside the house anymore, Can it go dormant in a 40 degree shed for the winter. Should i let it go dry or semi dry? Leave leaves in tact or let frost kill them back? Should I bare root it and store it like an amarylis bulb? I have done similar treatments to the smaller green leaf varieties, but didnt know if you can do it to the big purple kind which seem to form a pseudostem with their leaf stalks.

you should be able to dig it up and store it in pot. thats what i've done for mine in the past. The crinum is called Queen Emma and if taken care of can reach 7-8ft. you could just plant it in a big pot and burry the pot so you won't be destroying the root system for over-wintering.

thank you,
its been in a huge terracotta pot for 3 years, no new dirt. weights 80lbs dry. Should i let frost kill its top off, or just put the whole thing in a 35degree shed and let it dry out, or water it a little?
