heck, I used very weak vinegar in water.... not sure if it worked, but didn't seem to hurt my blueberries.

For container growing I use a mixture of top soil and pine bark fines along with monthly feedings of acid fertilizer. I find this to be the best regimen I've tried.

Replace as much soil as you can with peat...or at least mix a great amount in with your soil...deep and far-reaching. Can also add shredded pine bark mulch as a top dressing. As it breaks down, it will contribute to acidifying your soil.

Use coffee grounds - works like a dream and they bloom non-stop with NO BUGS!

I have 2 large grafted gardenias that go out in spring and come inside in the fall. They love rain water, but it is usually unavialable so I use RO water that I purchase from the supermarket. That holds them over til they can go out again and get revived.

Before these 2, I had another grafted gardenia that I summered outside and it did well, until one year for some reason, I left it in for entire summer and it died. I found that it needs to go out and get that acid rain.

Miracid is a good fertilizer. I also use fish emulsion and liquid fertilizers.
