| I would love to try elephant ears here, I understand I can dig it up in the fall and keep over the winter. A house nearby has a huge plant growing outside in their garden. Can I just get one anywhere, online, ebay? What's a good variety? Thanks,

| Do you have a Korean or other Asian marketplace around you? If so, the cheapest way is to purchase some "taro". It has the typical elephant ear and the leaf size but is often a different species from the garden center variety. This is really late in the season though for planting from the tuber. They do grow fast, but still. I usually start them in a peaty mix in early April and put them out May 1st in the water garden. |
