Hello all!

I usually just read the posts here, but I really need some advice on what is wrong and what to do with one of my plants. I am hoping that you guys may be able to help!

I received this plant several months ago and it had been out on a enclosed sunroom. I am not entirely sure what it is. Since I have brought it into my apartment, I have it near a south facing window for light, but no direct sun. I have made sure not to overwater it or so I thought. The leaves have started to burn in spots and then gradually kill the entire leaf. This is true of the old leaves as well as the brand new growth from the top. I am wondering if it is something I am doing wrong or if it may have a disease possibly. I had also wondered about just cutting it off and letting it come back. I will try to post photos:
