Sorry don't recall the latin name but it looks like joseph's coat.

The plant in the close up photo is about 3.5 inches tall and the leaves are about 1/4 inche wide. This plant is currently growing in Central America (sea level).

The only reference on the internet for Josephs Coat describes a croton.

It is some kind of Alternanthera.... Joseph's Coat is the common name..

That looks like it's a good match... so many varieties of this plant!

Totally agree with izhar. I have a couple of these. Alternantheras used to be called calico plant. They are very similar to coleus. The color fades if it doesn't get enough sun. The one I've liked the most was called 'snowball' and had 99% white leaves.

I didn't mean that coleus and Alternanthera were similar BECAUSE of the propensity for the color to fade in more shade. I was back to talking about your pictured plant with the 2nd sentence but don't think I left that clearly stated before.

Incidentally, many coleus AND Alternantheras have better or more varied colors in more shade, and some in more sun. Depends on the particular plant.
